James Meredith has praised Millwall's pre-season training camp in Portugal.
The Lions returned from the Iberian Peninsula on Wednesday after a week's worth of intense double sessions and video work and will now be thrust straight into a period of three pre-season friendlies in seven days, beginning with Saturday's trip to Barnet.
Meredith, however, looked back on the Portugal trip as beneficial on and off the field.
"It was difficult with the heat - it was hot, really hot. Hotter than I expected," he told millwallfc.co.uk.
"We've all got a nice tan! It was hard work, but good work. We've come back more together as a team and I know a bit more about all the lads and the way they play.
"It was really good getting to know everyone and also working on things tactically - I really enjoyed it."
The club now play a trio of matches before the season opener at Nottingham Forest, with trips to Barnet and Stevenage taking place before a home tie with Spanish Segunda side Granada Club de Futbol at The Den on 29th July.
The left-back stated that whilst the pre-season matches will be needed to "prepare", the main focus is on the Friday night trip to the City Ground on 4th August.
"The week away has stood us in good stead for what will be a tough Championship season. We also need these upcoming three games to prepare.
"But, I can't wait to get going at Nottingham Forest now. I just want to get playing in the regular season and do the best I can."
