Homegrown star puts pen-to-paperBen Thompson has committed his future to Millwall by signing a new long-term contract at The Den. The midfielder has agreed terms on a deal which runs until the summer of 2021.
Thompson - a lifelong Lions fan - rose through the club's youth ranks before making his senior debut during a League Cup tie against Southampton in August 2014.
It was in the following season, 2015/16, that the 21-year-old consolidated a regular first team position under boss Neil Harris, featuring 36 times as Millwall reached the Sky Bet League One Play-Off Final.
Thompson has almost matched that total already this term with a further 33 appearances to his name - taking his total for the club to 70 ahead of this evening's game against Walsall at The Den.
He told millwallfc.co.uk: "I'm over the moon. Talks have been going on for a few weeks and I'm glad it's finally sorted.
"I've been concentrating on my football and letting my agent and the club sort it out but I'm glad it's done.
"I love it here. I love playing here. It's a great club and a great place to play your football. Long may it continue."
Harris added: "I'm delighted that Ben has extended his contract. He's a huge part of the foundations that we're building at this club and he's going to be a big player for years to come."
Thompson looks set be in action at The Den for this evening as Millwall take on Walsall. Tickets will be available right up to kick-off at 7.45pm.
