Preview | Millwall v Sheffield United

A look ahead to Saturday's encounter...

2 December 2017

Millwall take on Sheffield United in the Sky Bet Championship this Saturday at The Den (kick-off 3pm).

Following last Saturday's narrow defeat at Craven Cottage against Fulham, The Lions return to The Den hoping to arrest a run of form that has seen just one win - a 2-0 success over Birmingham City - in their last nine games.

To do that, however, they will have to defeat a Sheffield United side that have carried the momentum from their League One title-winning campaign last year into this season.

The Blades currently sit in the top six of the Championship table and harbour real ambitions of a place in the Premier League in 2018/19.

Neil Harris will be boosted by the return of Jed Wallace this weekend, with the winger having completed his three-match ban after being sent off against Burton Albion at The Den.

Shaun Williams has returned to training but remains unavailable for the visit of Chris Wilder's men, whilst Byron Webster acts as The Lions' only other long-term absentee.

Conor McLaughlin will be forced to miss his first League game of the season through suspension after picking up his fifth booking at Fulham.

The historical record between The Lions and The Blades is near-equal - in 51 meetings, Sheffield United have recorded 22 wins to Millwall's 21.

The last encounter at The Den saw the two sides meet early on in their promotion-winning League One seasons, as Steve Morison's 89th-minute penalty-kick earned Millwall three points in a 2-1 victory.

The Family Fun Zone is back this Saturday! Join us in the Lions Centre between 1-2pm for FREE family fun, including Table Tennis, Arts & Crafts, Badge Making, Dart Football, Pool Football and a Bouncy Castle.

For those unable to make it to The Den this weekend, full match commentary will be available on iFollow Millwall from around 2.50pm.

The visit of The Blades, however, will NOT be shown on iFollow. The fixture has been selected as the main highlight feature on Channel 5's 'The Championship' programme and will therefore be broadcast overseas.
