Preview | Millwall v QPR

Friday night's London derby under the microscope...

29 December 2017

Millwall's final game of 2017 takes place on Friday night at The Den as The Lions entertain QPR in a Sky Bet Championship London derby (kick-off 7.45pm).

Neil Harris' side enter the clash with The R's in good spirits, having lost just one of their last five matches - a 3-0 defeat at Derby County - stringing together a four-game unbeaten run at The Den in the process.

The Lions will hope to end what has been a very successful 2017 on a high before the festive period of fixtures ends with a trip to Norwich City on New Years' Day.

Harris has the same squad to choose from following Boxing Day's 2-2 draw with Wolves, but will check on the fitness of Conor McLaughlin and Tom Elliott, who both withdrew from Tuesday's encounter with tightness.

Friday night will see the two clubs meet for the 72nd time, with Millwall holding the upper hand, having won 30 matches to QPR's 19.

The Lions looked to be on the way to a first away victory of the season in the last meeting on 12th September, but after McLaughlin gave Millwall the lead, Lee Gregory was shown a straight red card. Jed Wallace doubled the advantage in the second-half, but depsite a heroic defensive performance, The R's registered two late goals to snatch a point.

There was late drama in the last encounter at The Den, too, as Jermaine Easter scored a 90th-minute equaliser in a 2-2 draw in October 2013. Niko Kranjcar opened the scoring, but Scott McDonald got The Lions back on level terms. Charlie Austin looked to have given QPR all three points, but Easter's late strike ensured a share of the spoils.

Friday's match is nearing a sell-out and the club advise supporters needing to collect their tickets to arrive in good time in attempt to avoid lengthy queues shortly before kick-off. Click here for the latest ticket update.
