Preview | Millwall v Middlesbrough

A look ahead to The Lions' clash with Boro...

15 December 2017

Millwall's final pre-Christmas fixture at The Den takes place on Saturday afternoon as The Lions entertain Middlesbrough in the Sky Bet Championship (kick-off 3pm).

Following two solid results against a duo of high-flyers in Sheffield United (3-1) and Aston Villa (0-0), Neil Harris' side welcome another promotion-chasing outfit to south London in Garry Monk's Boro, looking to extend their unbeaten run to three matches.

Should the manager opt to remain unchanged from last weekend's stalemate at Villa Park, goalkeeper David Martin will be in line to make his home debut - however, Jordan Archer has trained all week and recovered from a virus in time to be in contention.

Shaun Williams, who returned to first team action last Saturday and played an hour of the Under 23s 2-1 victory over QPR on Monday, will also look to continue his progress back into the first team and is available for selection.

Fred Onyedinma remains a doubt, with next Saturday's trip to Derby County looking more likely, whilst Shane Ferguson will not return until 2018 after injuring his knee. Byron Webster is The Lions' only long-term absentee.

This weekend will see the 52nd meeting between Millwall and Middlesbrough, with the visitors leading the overall score 22-18. The two games during the 2014/15 campaign are a duo that The Lions would rather forget, as Boro won 3-0 at the Riverside Stadium after handing out a 5-1 drubbing at The Den.

Happier times were present in April 2014, however, as Stefan Maierhofer's double secured a priceless 2-1 win for Millwall on Teesside in their hunt to beat the drop from The Championship. The last win at The Den over this weekend's opponents came in September 2012, as Liam Trotter and Andy Keogh (2) were on target in a 3-1 success.

The Family Fun Zone returns this Saturday! Head over to the Lions Centre between 1-2pm for some festive fun, including a bouncy castle, table tennis and mobile bowling lane. Click here to learn more about the Fun Zone - which is FREE!
