Millwall to take 'confidence and momentum' into Villa Park clash

8 December 2017

Neil Harris wants his Millwall team to take momentum from their resounding win over Sheffield United into Saturday's Sky Bet Championship fixture with Aston Villa.

The Lions returned to winning ways with a fine display at The Den last weekend, with goals from Lee Gregory, Mahlon Romeo and Jake Cooper sinking The Blades and delighting the manager.

"The players gave the fans something to cheer about," Harris told millwallfc.co.uk

"The boys showed character and the fans got behind the team and in those big games that's what it's all about. It's what makes this club so special.

"We just have to have that consistency throughout the season."

Villa have risen to fourth position after a relatively slow start to life in the Sky Bet Championship.

The former Premier League side are unbeaten in four and boast an impressive home record, only losing one League match at Villa Park this season.

"What a great place to go an play football, Aston Villa away," Harris added.

"There's such quality in this division now. I was speaking to an ex-player who said that six or seven years ago this division would have been the Premier League - That's how far things have progressed.

"We have some big games coming up and we will go to Villa Park with confidence and a bit of momentum.

We are really looking forward to it."
