Lewis White was the hat-trick hero as Millwall Under 23s defeated Huddersfield Town 4-0 on Monday afternoon.

In the opening day Professional Development League clash at The Lions' Calmont Road training ground, White edged Millwall into the lead on 23 minutes, before doubling his and the home sides' tally on 71 minutes.

A quick-fire double from Kris Twardek and White - to complete his treble - late on added the gloss to the score-line and ensured an easy victory for Kevin Nugent in his first game in charge.

Summer signing Ryan Tunnicliffe played 71 minutes before being replaced by Jethro Hanson.

Next up for the young Lions is a trip to Crewe Alexandra next Monday, before they return south to face Sheffield Wednesday at The Den on Tuesday 29th August.

Millwall: Sandford, Brown, Chesmain, Donovan, Nelson, Rooney, McNamara, Tunnicliffe (Hanson 71'), Twardek, White (Neary 86'), Crichlow (Olaofe 60'). Subs not used: Girling, Mbulu.
