Millwall XI hit Wings for four

Our take on The Lions' 4-1 win at Welling United...

1 August 2017

A Millwall XI comfortably swept aside Welling United at Park View Road on Monday night, winning 4-1.

Kris Twardek and Tony Craig gave The Lions a first-half lead, but former striker Alfie Pavey threatened to bring The Wings back into the game by halving the deficit shortly after the break.

However, a stunning strike from Noah Chesmain and a cool finish from Jamie Philpot late on gave the score-line a handsome gloss for Adam Barrett's men.

Twardek opened the scoring on 16 minutes, striking a deflected shot low into the bottom corner, before Craig's cross-shot bounced in off the post nine minutes later.

Pavey reduced the arrears on 50 minutes, but a late flourish from Millwall saw their goal tally doubled. Chesmain thumped home from 30 yards out six minutes from time, with Philpot latching on to Lewis White's through-ball two minutes later to add a fourth.

Take a look at the goals from Monday's night meeting at Park View Road below.
