7 August 2017

Jimmy Abdou scored his first League goal since 26th September 2015 on Saturday afternoon as AFC Wimbledon drew 1-1 with Scunthorpe United at Glanford Park.

Abdou, who joined The Dons on loan from Millwall before the beginning of the 2017/18 campaign, rescued a point for Neal Ardley's side after Conor Townsend gave The Iron an early lead.

The 33-year-old picked the ball up just outside the edge of the area and struck a half-volley low beyond the reach of Scunthorpe goalkeeper Matt Gilks into the net.

Harry Smith, meanwhile, made his Swindon Town debut off the substitues' bench at Carlisle United.

Luke Norris opened the scoring in the 31st minute for The Robins in a 2-1 victory, but had to be taken off after injuring himself in the process.

Smith nearly made himself an instant hero, but saw a goal disallowed for offside.
