Father of Jimmy looks ahead to 'Jimmy's Day'...
Barry Mizen MBE has praised the "absolutely fantastic" support of Millwall fans ahead of the fifth annual 'Jimmy's Day' at The Den this Friday.
The Lions take on Northampton Town in Sky Bet League One (kick-off 3pm) looking to keep their Play-Off charge on track, but will also remember Jimmy Mizen - a Millwall fan who was tragically murdered in 2008 - in a number of ways on the day.
Both Millwall and Northampton players will warm-up in 'For Jimmy' t-shirts, whilst there will be a bucket collection around the ground prior to kick-off.
The 'For Jimmy Cup 2017' will also take place in the Lions Centre earlier in the day, with Barry addressing the Den crowd pitchside accompanied by selected youngsters from the tournament.
"Millwall supporters have been absolutely fantastic and have got behind us in so many ways," said Barry.
"What we wanted to do from the beginning with 'Jimmy's Day' was show Millwall for the club that it is and what it does in the community.
"Last year, families of other young lads murdered in London who were affiliated to different clubs around the capital attended - to me, that was a great promotion for the goodness of football and the way different clubs can come together in support of one another.
"The Millwall fans gave each and every one of them their heartfelt love and support - that's what at the core of this club."
Barry also looked ahead to Friday's encounter, stating that football forms a "bond" in which so much good can be done in society.
"Each time we've had a 'Jimmy's Day', the opposition have always been supportive of us, too. It has tended to be Charlton Athletic quite often, but this time it's Northampton and they're bringing down about 10 young people to be part of the day.
"There will be youngsters from both clubs on the pitch before the game. Football is our bond where so much good can be done and is being done in society."
