Lions midfielder praises "resilient" team-mates
Ben Thompson believes the key to bouncing back from Easter Monday's "frustrating" defeat to Fleetwood Town is to focus on the positives.
The Lions dominated the match from the outset, hogging possession and creating countless chances that, somehow, didn't translate into goals.
"It's a strange emotion looking back on the match," Thompson told millwallfc.co.uk
"In the first thirty minutes we played the best football that we have in a very long time, but the ball wasn't going into the net.
"We were hitting the post, hitting the bar and the keeper made some fantastic saves. It's disappointing that we didn't get the win, but that's football."
The midfielder came closest to scoring in the opening exchanges when his powerful effort from range rattled the post.
However, missed opportunities would be punished minutes later as Cod Army defender Ben Davies headed home the decisive goal against the run of play.
The win cemented Fleetwood's place in the play-offs and Thompson believes learning from the trip to Highbury Stadium will be crucial to cementing their own place in the top six.
"There are plenty of positives to take away from that match and that's what we need to focus on. We are resilient and will bounce back, I know that.
"There's two more games to go, starting with Oxford at home. We have been playing well at The Den and there's no reason why we can't go on and get the win and move closer to securing our place in the play-offs."
