Lions Live gets defensiveIn bygone days, the phrase "round the Horn" implied a right of passage for young mariners. Their first trip around Cape Horn at the southern tip of South America represented their coming of age as a seaman. A membership to an elite and exclusive club.
However, to Millwall supporters in the eighties and nineties, a very similar phrase "round the Horne" might also have been applied to visiting strikers hoping to find a way round the imposing figure of Brian Horne in the Millwall goal. Beating the Lions keeper represented promotion to a higher footballing echelon.
Brian made 196 appearances as the last line of defence for The Lions between 1986 and 1991 and was instrumental in Millwall's promotion to the First Division after securing the Division 2 championship in 1987/88.
These days he still cuts an imposing figure as a matchday host in the Millwall Executive Lounge, but he will be bringing his affable and congenial presence to bear in the Lions Live studio tonight.
Second on tonight's programme is a defender who, had he played in the same team as the venerable Mr Horne, would have formed an intimidating defensive partnership with the the ex-Millwall keeper.
Byron Webster has continued his impressive form from the last campaign, but he'll taking time out to discuss his season so far with the Lions Live team this evening.
Both Brian and Byron will be open to questions, so have your phone at the ready.
And don't forget you can still vote for your player of the season for August up unitl 5pm although listeners can still vote on tonight's show. The lucky winners will win two tickets for Saturday's game against Bradford and will be invited onto the pitch to present the Player Of The Season trophy to their chosen player..
