Millwall v Fleetwood Town - the stats

21 October 2016

Check our numbers guide to Saturday's game at The Den

Meetings between Millwall and Saturday's visitors Fleetwood Town are rare as they come.

Although first formed in 1908, the current incarnation of the Lancastrian outfit was only established in 1997 with The Lions and Cod Army having met on a grand number of two occasions. And so far the race could not be closer with each team claiming a victory apiece.

The first encounter occurred last November when Fleetwood brought to an end a nine-match winning run by The Lions at the Highbury Stadium with a narrow 2-1 victory.

On that occasion Eggert Jonsson and Bobby Grant scored two second-half goals, the second coming in the 89th minute direct from a corner, to secure the three points, whilst Byron Webster bagged a late injury-time consolation goal for The Lions.

However, parity was restored at The Den in April 2016 when a gritty game was settled by a sublime 52nd-minute Steve Morison lob to earn Millwall a 1-0 victory.

The encounter saw the first appearance on the subs bench for youngster Kris Twardek, and an impressive performance from second-half sub Jamie Philpot.

Forward Morison is 5/4 with Sky Bet to get on the score-sheet at any time during 90 minutes on Saturday, with strike partner Lee Gregory 6/4.

Perhaps midfielder Calum Butcher will follow up his first goal for The Lions at Northampton last weekend with a first on home soil. Sky Bet have him priced at 10/1 to open the scoring and 100/30 to score any time.
