Lions winger hopes to kick on after scoring in successive games
Millwall's Mr Versatile believes he is ready to anchor down an attacking position in the side after scoring in two consecutive matches for The Lions.
Fred Onyedinma was asked to play higher up the pitch in a 4-4-2 formation against Walsall and Gillingham, and the 19-year-old made the most of his opportunities in front of goal.
Lions boss Neil Harris has predominantly used the teenager's blistering pace to control the flanks, but Fred's latest goal-scoring performance in Tuesday's Checkatrade Trophy win on Tuesday night proved he can hold his own in the Number 10 role.
"I think those goals were hugely important for my confidence," he told millwallfc.co.uk. "Coming through the ranks I have literally played in every position; centre back, centre midfield and have now ended up as a second striker."
Those two goals followed hot on the heels of a winner for Millwall's U23s to complete a three goals in three games strike rate for the youngster.
Fred's hard work has not gone unnoticed and he added: "It's fantastic that I got to play 90 minutes against Gillingham. I just have to keep working hard to prove to the gaffer that I can hold down a position in the starting side."
