Millwall 'primed' to host Southend United on Friday nightSouthend United's first home win of the season over Millwall in September served as a platform for The Shrimpers to climb out of the League One drop zone.
Now, less than seven weeks later, The Lions hope to return the favour by using Friday night's encounter to launch their bid for FA Cup glory.
Millwall, currently three points outside of the League One Play-Off positions, have won four of their last five matches and are in a 'very strong' position to begin a Cup run, according to captain Tony Craig.
"It's exciting because everyone always gets up for this competition," TC told millwallfc.co.uk.
The tie also presents an opportunity to show how far the Lions have come after a 'difficult' September, in which the team failed to record a win.
"We stuck together during that tough period and things are looking up at the moment because of that," he added.
"You have to give full respect to Southend a few weeks ago, they did a job on us and we were not good enough. But now we have an opportunity to rectify that and carry this good run of form into the FA Cup.
"Strong form at home is also very important. It's a blessing to have our opening tie played at The Den.
"We hope to have the full support of the crowd and that should spur us on to a good performance on Friday night."
