Millwall captain Craig awarded testimonial

Lions to play Brentford in special pre-season friendly

Millwall will play Brentford in a testimonial game for long-serving defender Tony Craig at The Den on Saturday 30th July (3pm).

Club captain Craig came through Millwall's youth ranks before making his first team debut in April 2003. In four separate spells at The Den the 31-year-old has made a combined total of 254 appearances, playing a key role in the side which won promotion to the Championship in 2009/10 and also the one which has reached this season's League One Play-Offs.

The centre-back played 127 games for Brentford between 2012 and 2015, helping them climb into the Championship along the way, which makes the West London club the perfect opponents for Craig's big day.

"I'm very thankful to the club for giving me a testimonial," he said.

"The chairman, Andy Ambler and the gaffer have passed it on to me which is fantastic, and for Brentford to come down is brilliant.

"Thinking about having a testimonial gives me goosebumps having been a supporter sitting in the Cold Blow Lane end as a youngster.

"I've enjoyed every single moment of my time here and to get a testimonial as a fan and a player who grew up at the club is a dream.

"It will be a special day for my family, who have been there through thick and thin with me. I can't wait for it."

Craig has kindly decided to make a donation from the proceeds generated by his testimonial to Headley Court, the Defence Medical Rehabilitation Centre in Surrey. Ticket details will be announced in due course.

The testimonial will be the fourth and final first team pre-season of the summer. Read details of the other three by clicking here.
