Carlos Edwards says it's a 'privilege' to be playing at Wembley

Lions defender wants to make the most of his opportunity

At the age of 37, Carlos Edwards could well become one of the oldest 'Wembley debutants' of all time when The Lions take on Barnsley at the national stadium on Sunday.

Naturally he is excited at the prospect of playing in the League One Play-Off Final, an opportunity that he began to feel may never come his way.

"It's a privilege," said Carlos, "and it just proves there's a first time for everything.

"Mahlon Romeo came into the side and did very well, so it looked like I wouldn't get back in after my injury. But he was unlucky with the sending-off at Gillingham which meant unfortunately he is suspended.

"I have picked up where I left off earlier in the season and am trying to play my part.

"We're going there with a positive frame of mind and will continue what we've been doing in the last six games.

"Full credit to Barnsley, too, who have also been in great form, but if we play the way we can I'm confident we can come out on top."
