Millwall Dockers' Day 2016

16 March 2016

Join the class of 1990-91 when Shrewsbury Town visit

Millwall FC will celebrate Dockers' Day on Saturday 9th April before we take on Shrewsbury Town.

A host of former Lions favourites from the 1990-91 FA Youth Cup winning squad have been invited along for the occasion, which is an annual celebration of the club's historical links with the Dockworkers who formed such a large part of Millwall's support in years gone by.

Tom Walley's young team of 1990-91 included the likes of Andy Roberts, Tony Dolby, Carl Emberson, Mark Foran, Brett Smith, Paul Manning and Brian Lee.

They had a memorable FA Youth Cup run that season reaching the Final where they beat Sheffield Wednesday 3-0 over two legs having seen off First Division Wimbledon and West Ham in their wake.

Walley's side were close to recording a memorable double, but having beaten Tottenham Hotspur and Chelsea en route to the Southern Junior Floodlit Cup Final, were pipped in the Final by Arsenal.

This year’s Dockers’ Day promises to be another fantastic event, with 20 lucky Dockers enjoying a VIP day out at The Den, during which they will join the team of 1990-91 at the blue bus at around 2pm before going on the pitch to receive a presentation medal courtesy of sponsors the Southwark News.

Die-hard Lions fan Colin Welch will be sponsoring the exclusive Dockers' Day T-shirts which the players will wear in the warm-up and sign before they are given to young supporters in the ground.

We have limited spaces remaining for Dockworkers to join us on this memorable day, so if you would like to be a part of this incredible experience please drop a line to Millwall press office (c/o The Den, Zampa Rd, London SE16 3LN) or email the club at and tell us about your connection with the Docks and the club.
