Millwall winger impresses in final warm-up game against Slovakia
Millwall winger Shane Ferguson warmed up for Euro 2016 by helping Northern Ireland extend their unbeaten run to 12 games with a 0-0 draw away to fellow finalists Slovakia at the weekend.
Ferguson started for Michael O'Neill's side in Trnava and impressed playing wide on the left in a 3-5-2 formation.
It was another outstanding defensive performance against a Slovakian team which had defeated world champions Germany on 29th May.
Ferguson played 86 minutes before he was replaced by Lee Hodson of MK Dons, but certainly performed well enough to be in serious contention for a place in the starting XI when Ireland kick off the tournament against Poland in Nice on Sunday 12th June.
Ireland are making their first appearance at an international tournament since 1986 and Lions ace Shane is one of 13 players in O'Neill's 23-man squad who are plying their trade in the Football League.
