Youngster Ben eyes progress in 2016/17
Ben Thompson says he is "raring to go" as the midfielder and his Millwall team-mates prepare to return for pre-season training this Friday.
The 20-year-old enjoyed a memorable 2015/16 campaign during which he made 36 appearances, scored Millwall's Goal of the Season and finished third in the club's Player of the Year vote.
However, Thompson's full attention is now on what lies ahead and the Academy graduate can't wait to resume training as Millwall begin preparations for their season opener at home to Oldham Athletic on Saturday 6th August.
"It's been a good break," Thompson said.
"I played more games than I ever had last year and I was knackered towards the end of the season, but I'm raring to go again now.
"The result at Wembley didn't go our way but we can improve on that and hopefully this coming campaign will be the time for it.
"Last year we had a slow start so this time around we need to continue the momentum we generated with our form in the last few months of the season. We were dominating teams, playing good football, and if we can pick up from that then it could be a successful season.
"We're all looking forward to getting back into training and focusing on that first fixture."
