Millwall FC - key League One dates for 2016/17

22 June 2016

Who, where and when for The Lions

Millwall kick-off the 2016/17 season against Oldham Athletic at The Den on Saturday 6th August (3pm) - the fourth time in five years that The Lions have started the campaign on home soil.

Neil Harris' charges don't have far to travel for their first away game, with the relatively short trip to MK Dons scheduled for the following Saturday, 13th August.

Bradford City, who The Lions beat over two legs to reach last season's Play-Off Final, will be back in SE16 on Saturday 3rd September with an autumn away day to the coast on Saturday 17th September taking The Lions to Southend United.

Charlton Athletic visit The Den on Saturday 8th October with the return game at The Valley scheduled for Saturday 14th January.

This season's FA Cup First Round gets underway on Saturday 5th November and Round Two is scheduled for Saturday 3rd December.

The festive period has been kind to Lions fans with both matches at home (Swindon Town on Boxing Day and Gillingham on New Year's Eve), whilst the first game of 2017 takes Millwall to AFC Wimbledon, followed by a home fixture against Walsall (7th January).

With League One marginally less arduous on the road, a good chunk of the travelling will, however, come in February with successive Saturdays seeing The Lions make the trek to Rochdale (18th) and then Oldham Athletic (25th).

However midweek trips are at a minimum, with Shrewsbury Town (Tuesday 14th March) the only real stand-out lengthy journey in the second half of the season.

The EFL campaign is scheduled to finish in April and the last two months of the campaign see Millwall play 11 games in total, with five at The Den including MK Dons (4th March) and Northampton (15th April). Oxford United provide the opposition for the last home League One match of the season on 22nd April.

An away trip to Bristol Rovers brings the scheduled 2016/17 season to a close on Sunday 30th April - but it's an early start with all League One games on that day confirmed as a 12noon kick-off!
