Millwall boss Harris provides Beevers update

14 June 2016

Lions defender set for departure

Neil Harris has intimated that Mark Beevers will be leaving Millwall when his contract expires at the end of June.

The central defender moved to The Den from boyhood club Sheffield Wednesday back in October 2012 and has made 150 appearances for The Lions, more than a third of which came last season.

But Harris, who has also revealed that Millwall are close signing a winger, admits that Beevers could well move clubs ahead of the new campaign.

"Mark has done exceptionally well for us, especially in the second-half of last season," the boss said.

"He is a northern based lad who has given good service to us and he has made no secret over the course of the last 12 months that his future probably lies up north.

"We're busy looking at trying to replace Mark in the centre-half positions and we will work tirelessly to not only make sure we get the right player, but as ever to get the right character to continue that team spirit."
