Join Millwall at the Bermondsey Carnival on Saturday

28 June 2016

Lots of fun in store for all the family

Millwall Football Club and Community Trust will be heading to the Bermondsey Carnival at Southwark Park this Saturday - and there promises to be plenty of fun in store for all the family.
The Carnival kicks off at 12noon and runs until 8pm, although representatives from the Club and Community Trust will be on hand until the slightly earlier time of 5pm.

Keep an eye out for the Blue Bus, which will be at Southwark Park along with our popular mascots Zampa the Lion and Bolina.

There are free 2015/16 match programmes available, forms to sign up to become a Junior Lion or MSC member, Lions Store merchandise available to purchase and also an opportunity to take part in lots of fun activities organised by coaching staff from the Community Trust.

The activities will include five-a-side football and the popular 'Millwall Challenge', which is the inflatable football shooting target.

This year's Bermondsey Carnival promises to offer something for everyone, with 80s icon Paul Young confirmed as the headline act on stage.

Famous for such hit singles as Love of the Common People and Wherever I Lay My Hat, the performance is one of only two London appearances by the singer on his latest tour.

Other acts confirmed on this year's line-up are local reggae group Indika, Motown trio The Aim, and the internationally renowned Kinetika Bloco, returning for a special carnival parade.

There will be lots for all the family at this year's event, including the SE16 Dance Hall stage as part of The Beat Goes On - Big Dance Weekend, created by entrepreneur Laura Erwin. This lively stage event will present the best local dancers and give people a chance to have a go themselves at anything from Zumba to contemporary dance.
The day-long event will also feature food from around the world with a huge range of stalls, the annual rumble in the jumble second hand market, and Reuben Bond's funfair.
