12-goal Lee has Den dreaming
In a game that saw midfielder Jimmy Abdou make his 300th appearance for The Lions, here is a taster of what the press said, starting with a paper local to Port Vale.
This wasn't quite as bad as a 3-0 defeat at Millwall in February 2008, when then-Vale boss Lee Sinnott did his best to analyse a dreadful performance while standing next to a life-size furry lion in the New Den press room.
Mind you, it was heading that way, in all but the cuddly toy, when Vale trailed 3-0 at the break in easily their worst half of football since they were knocked out of the FA Cup at Exeter in December.
The Lions were in complete command, just as they had been in winning 2-0 at Vale Park in September in the Valiants' only home league defeat this season.
In fact, on the evidence of the two meetings between these teams, Vale must wonder why Millwall are not top of the table and Millwall must wonder why Vale aren't bottom. Read more here
Lee Gregory scored two and made another as Millwall beat Port Vale 3-1 - their third win in four league matches.
The Lions raced into a 3-0 lead at the break, Gregory nodding home before converting a penalty to take his season's haul to 12.
He then set up Steve Morison for his 10th goal of the campaign.
JJ Hooper pulled one back for the visitors but Millwall were always in control amid growing belief at The Den about a return to the Championship.
Lions boss Neil Harris said: "The boys had freedom to go and express themselves. The finishing and delivery into the box was top class. I've three players on double figures with 20 games to go - a great achievement."
