Full-time | Millwall U21s 2-2 QPR U21sKris Twardek and Keaton Wood were on target as Millwall's U21s returned to Elite Development Squad League action in a 2-2 draw with QPR at Calmont Road on Friday afternoon.
However, the hero of the hour was goalkeeper Harry Girling who, having been penalised for a foul in the dying moments of the game, promptly produced a super penalty save from Olamide Shodipo to deny QPR victory.
Justin Skinner's charges went into action determined not to show any hangover following Tuesday afternoon's disappointing Premier League Cup Quarter Final defeat at the hands of a strong Hull City side.
However the visitors took the lead on 21 minutes when triallist Kelvin Osei-Addo, previously with MK Dons, opened the scoring.
Millwall began to get into their stride and were back on level terms thanks to a smart 56th-minute header from Twardek after a pinpoint delivery from Jack Powell.
The young Lions edged ahead just seven minutes later with another header, this time Wood getting on the end of a Powell corner to go 2-1 up.
But back came the visitors and they made matters all square courtesy of a direct free-kick from Ryan Manning with 14 minutes remaining.
With the game heading towards a draw QPR were handed a great opportunity to steal victory when Girling was penalised for a foul. However the young keeper made sure that there was to be no final twist in this particular tale with a smart stop to deny Shodipo ensure the shares were spoiled.
