Support the boys!Millwall's Elite Development Squad host Hull City at The Den on Tuesday in the Quarter-Finals of the U21s Premier League Cup (1pm).
Justin Skinner's squad have secured impressive wins over Plymouth Argyle, Swansea City and Wolverhampton Wanderers to reach this stage of the competition. The young Lions played out a 0-0 draw with Hull City in the most recent meeting between the two sides but on Tuesday Skinner believes the backing of Lions fans at The Den will be a huge help to his side.
"The boys will appreciate it and having plenty of fans there will better what is already a big occasion for them," he said.
"Getting used to playing in front of big crowds is important to the development of the players. The lads have done extremely well to get this far in the competition so if anyone can come down and back them it would be brilliant."
Reaching the Semi-Finals is Tuesday's objective but the bigger picture is that the Academy's focus remains on producing players who can play week-in, week-out for the senior squad, as Skinner explains.
"The ultimate goal is getting players in the first team," he added.
"It is about having that continuous batch of players coming through the system and knocking on the manager's door.
"This is a culmination of effort from the coaching and scouting networks, as well as the management, to get as far as we have so far.
"The Millwall fans would love a team full of homegrown players so long as we are capable of competing and winning matches.
"It's a good time at the moment but nobody is getting carried away. There is still a lot of work to do with many more players to come through, but we're on the right lines."
