Millwall in 'good spirits' ahead of Walsall test, says Harris

Lions manager previews Saturday's trip to the Banks's Stadium

Millwall boss Neil Harris says that his squad are in good spirits ahead of Saturday's trip to high-flying Walsall.

Tuesday's 1-0 victory away to Oxford United wasn't enough to take The Lions into the Johnstone's Paint Trophy Final at Wembley, but it was a fourth victory in the last six matches for Millwall, who are still sixth in the League One table.

This weekend Harris' charges face a Saddlers side one point off top spot and unbeaten in their last four League matches, but the Millwall manager believes The Lions can take confidence from their performance against Walsall at The Den in December.

"The boys are in good spirits," he said.

"I'm delighted with the win the other night but it's just a shame it didn't take us far enough to get to the Final.

"We now face two tough away games starting on Saturday against a Walsall side who are at the top end of the League on merit. They're a good, consistent side, and the table doesn't lie.

"In the first-half of our game against them at The Den they kept the ball really well in spells but without really hurting us if I'm honest. The shot count showed that but they do keep it really well and try to frustrate you by doing that.

"We know what their strengths will be and as ever we will try and combat that, and then concentrate on ourselves with the football. In the second-half of that game we caused them plenty of problems and we hope it can be the same again on Saturday."

Harris will be forced into a defensive reshuffle at the Banks's Stadium with Mark Beevers beginning a two-match suspension following his second sending off of the season on Tuesday night.

"There is an opportunity for somebody to come and play at centre-half instead of Mark," the Millwall boss added.

"Other than that there are a few knocks, niggles and scrapes from the other night. We had no Shaun Williams (against Oxford) so we will have to see how that progresses as to whether he makes Saturday.

"Team selection may be left until the last minute."
