"This is an amazing honour," says Academy boss

Millwall Academy Director Scott Fitzgerald says he is "very proud" after three of the club's youngsters were called up for international duty this week.

Rob Strachan is at St George's Park with England U16s for three games against Czech Republic, Norway and Italy, while Nathan Carlyle has been called up for a Republic of Ireland U15s training camp in Dublin. Completing the trio is Leighton Fanshawe who, like Strachan, is at St George's Park, but with England's U15s for two matches against USA.

Academy goalkeeping coach Seb Barton has also been invited to run sessions for stoppers in England's U16 group.

Speaking to, a delighted Fitzgerald said: "This is an amazing honour not just for our players, but also for the club's Academy staff. It goes to show that all of the hard work being put in is being recognised at international level.

"I am very proud of the boys and in my opinion there are more to come."
