Justin Skinner's view of "committed" derby'A typical local derby' was how Lions coach Justin Skinner described Monday afternoon's U23s clash with Charlton at Bromley FC.
The game finished honours even after Kris Twardek had put Millwall ahead on 11 minutes and Addicks skipper Mikhail Kennedy levelled after 50.
"We started very well,"Skinner told millwallfc.co.uk. "We dominated the first 20 minutes and got our noses in front when we forced a throw following a good move. Jamie Philpot got a flick-on and Kris turned his man to fire into the far corner.
"There was plenty of commitment from both sides with a few tackles flying in as you expect in a derby game. Charlton went into it top of the table and we were determined to match them.
"To be fair, they started the second half the better and scored during that period. There really wasn't a great deal between the sides overall and a draw was just about a fair result.
"Shaun Hutchinson got a good 45 minutes under his belt which was the plan, and Jamie Philpot also got an hour which was pleasing too."
Millwall: Sandford, McNamara, Chesmain, Mbulu, Hutchinson (Bray, 46') Farrell, Ebuzoeme, Twardek, Pavey, Philpot (Leighton, 60'), Bah. Subs not used: Jackson, Mundle-Smith, Hanson.
