Webster extends Millwall stay

Defender Byron puts pen-to-paper

Byron Webster has extended his stay at Millwall by signing a new contract until the summer of 2018.

The 29-year-old joined The Lions back in 2014 and has since made 66 appearances, 50 of which came last season. Webster established himself as a key member of Millwall's defence under boss Neil Harris in 2015/16 and looks to have continued that form into the new campaign having found the net and helped The Lions to a clean sheet in Saturday's opening day success against Oldham Athletic.

"I'm really pleased," the centre-back told

"It was a very easy decision for me to make because I'm really enjoying my time here at Millwall.

"There is a great group of lads here and I'm looking forward to playing a part in what we all hope will be a successful season for the club."

Manager Harris added: "I'm delighted that we have been able to secure Byron's future with Millwall.

"He is a real leader on the pitch and inside the dressing room and is just the type of character and personality we want at this football club.

"Byron's performances last year were immense and he'll be looking to build on that level in the months ahead."
