Harris boosts options with new acquisition
Millwall are delighted to announce that the club has completed a deal to sign Calum Butcher from Burton Albion.
The 25-year-old central midfielder has joined The Lions on a two-year deal and will wear the club's number 16 shirt.
Butcher came through Tottenham Hotspur's youth ranks and has previously played for Barnet, Hayes & Yeading United, Dundee United and Danish side FC Hjorring. He joined Burton Albion in 2015 and made 43 appearances for The Brewers as they were promoted to the Championship from League One last season.
"I'm very excited. This is a massive club," Butcher told millwallfc.co.uk
after putting pen-to-paper.
"As soon as the opportunity arose it was something I couldn't turn down.
"I know what it takes to get out of this League and hopefully that is something I bring to the squad.
"There is a strong squad here with some very good players so the competition for places is there, which is what you want."
Neil Harris added: "It's been clear to see during a really busy schedule in August that we've been a little bit light in the middle of the park.
"Calum fits the bill for us. He's a 6'1", modern day no-nonsense central midfield player who is good at 50-50s on the ground and in the air. He also breaks forward really well and scored five goals for Burton last year in a promotion-winning season so we are really pleased to get him on board."
