Lions defender looks ahead to start of the new campaign
Right-back Mahlon, who was a revelation for Neil Harris' side after breaking into the side in January this year, was forced to miss out on both Play-Off semi-final games against Bradford City and then the Final at the national stadium itself after a harsh red card in the final League One game of the 2016/17 at former club Gillingham.
"It was a gutting feeling to not be in the team," he said, "But at least I was still around them, still training and went on the day with them. It is definitely something I will use if I ever get in a tough situation."
Hopefully after a promising first season at The Den, tough situations and disappointments will be thin on the ground as manager Harris and his players aim to build on the solid foundations laid during the last campaign.
"I'm looking forward to the start of the season, we all are. Myself and the team are feeling strong. We've had a good pre-season, a good four weeks and are ready to go.
"As a group I think we all gel really well, the new boys, everyone is really together. The balance between the older players and some of the younger ones is good, and so is the chemistry.
"It's going to be an exciting division with some different teams this season. We are all looking forward to it."
