Millwall's Romeo talks up squad 'togetherness'

Right-back Mahlon speaks ahead of the trip to Bury

Millwall defender Mahlon Romeo believes that the squad's togetherness is building all the time as the Sky Bet League One Play-Off race continues.

Tuesday's victory over Fleetwood Town lifted The Lions up to fourth in the table ahead of Saturday's trip to Bury, who are safe from relegation and out of the running for a top six spot.

It promises to be another tough away trip against a side who boast a good home record this term, but Romeo and his team-mates are looking forward to the challenge.

"It wasn't our best performance on Tuesday and we all know we can play better, but we got the result" he said.

"We're doing well at the moment. There is great chemistry amongst the team and we go into every match with a strong gameplan.

"The togetherness we have in the squad is clear for all to see and that gets better with each and every training session and game.

"Bury is our next match and it's the one we are looking forward to the most. All that matters is getting a result at this stage and that is our target for Saturday."

Since making his Millwall debut against Walsall in early February the 20-year-old has been an ever-present for The Lions but isn't taking his impressive progress for granted.

"I just take each day and each match as it comes," Romeo added.

"I'm learning more and more all the time, whether that's from the manager, his coaching staff or the senior players. It's all about small steps for me.

"I'm lucky that I can learn from someone like Carlos (Edwards) in training by watching what he does and how he does it. He is someone who takes players under his wing and that helps."
