Young Lions secure second place with a 2-0 win at Ipswich Town
Kyron Farrell and Joseph Otudeko were on target as Millwal U21s booked a Professional Development League 2 Play-Off spot with a hard-fought 2-0 win at Ipswich Town on Monday afternoon.Justin Skinner's young charges went into action knowing that victory would secure second spot behind title-winning Charlton and a goal either side of half-time ensured that The Lions will now play Huddersfield Town U21s in the Play-Offs.
Midfielder Kyron Farrell settled the nerves early on with a third minute opener with a shot that deflected off Joseph Robinson and trickled over the line with keeper Michael Crowe stranded.
Keeper Crowe came to the rescue to deny Millwall a second goal early in the second-half, clawing away Jamie Philpot's header from close range.
However trialist Otudeko put the result beyond doubt with a super strike from the edge of the area in the last couple of minutes to put the seal on another excellent awayday for the buoyant young Lions.
Millwall: Forde, Edwards, Chesmain, Upson (Donovan), Nelson, Mbulu, Twardek, Farrell, Philpot (Leighton), White (Wisson), Otudeko. Subs: Brown, Girling.
