Remembering Joe Wilson 1935-2015

22 September 2015

Funeral of former Lions scout on Wednesday 23rd September

We were saddened to hear of the recent passing of former Millwall Scout Joe Wilson at the age of 80.

Joe was the most influential youth scout in South London for 25 years from the mid 1970s. He was also a leading figure in the South London Schools FA.

Former Lions Chief Scout Bob Pearson said, "He was my right hand man for my entire time at Millwall and was instrumental in recruiting the teams that won the FA Youth Cup in 1979 (see photo) and 1991."

Joe and his wife Maureen moved to Folkestone, but Joe continued to attend home matches as a guest of the club until 2011, and still recommended players from Kent to our Academy until recently.

Joe's funeral is on Wednesday at 2.30 pm at Barham Crematorium, Canterbury Road,  Barham, Canterbury CT4 6QU.
