U21s manager praises young Lions after third straight win
Millwall Youth Development Squad manager Justin Skinner praised his young side after seeing them comfortably beat Leeds United 3-1 at The Den on Monday afternoon. Two goals from Alfie Pavey and a Keaton Wood header were enough to secure the three points and Justin enthused: "It was a good team performance overall, and apart from a little spell in the first half I thought we were always in control.
"It helps when you score in the first minute, a brilliant strike from Alfie, and then once we'd ridden out their period of pressure we got the second and were comfortable from that point really.
"It was disappointing to concede a goal because we wanted the clean sheet, but I was pleased with the way we played as a unit.
"We were a bit short of central midfield players, which is why Jamie Philpot and then John Marquis had to fill in and do a job there. Obviously Jamie picked up an injury at the end of the first half, and hopefully that won't prove to be too serious."
