Best of the action from Vale Park

Millwall produced arguably their best performance of the season to record a fine 2-0 victory at Port Vale on Tuesday night.

The Lions went into the game having not lost on their travels this season whilst Vale had not tasted defeat on home turf. Something was going to have to give and on this occasion goals from Mark Beevers (58mins) and a Lee Gregory penalty (90+2mins) ensured that it was Millwall who came away with maximum points.

But for the brilliance of Vale keeper Jak Alnwick, the winning margin could have been significantly bigger with Alnwick producing five top saves in the opening 15 minutes alone to keep the lively Lions at bay.

There was little he could do to prevent Beevers breaking the deadlock with a textbook header following Shaun Williams' corner, and he was picking the ball out of the back of the net in injury-time when sub Gregory smashed home from 12 yards after Alnwick had fouled the striker.

This was a performance to savour by the travelling fans and the best of Tuesday night's action is captured here in our special photo gallery.
