Millwall boss Harris mulls over squad strengthening

5 October 2015

Chopper will use break in fixtures to assess his options

Neil Harris says that he will use Millwall's upcoming break in fixtures to decide which areas of his squad, if any, need strengthening by utilising the loan market.

The Lions face Northampton Town in the Johnstone's Paint Trophy Second Round on Tuesday night but are then without a match until Swindon Town visit The Den on Saturday 17th October.

Harris was dealt a cruel double injury blow during Saturday's defeat to Peterborough when Jimmy Abdou and Ed Upson were both forced off, leaving him light of midfield options.

And while the extent of those two injuries cannot yet be confirmed, the boss has hinted that he will still spend the coming days assessing his squad's strength in depth.

"We've certainly got that option," Harris said, discussing potential loan activity.

"With injuries to two key midfield players we are looking at the possibility of strengthening the squad.

"After the game against Northampton we have a big 11-day break to assess where we are and reflect on the first chunk of games this season.

"It gives us a chance to look at who has impressed, who hasn't and evaluate what areas could do with strengthening."
