Lions earn Johnstone's Paint Trophy nomination following Plymouth win
A five-star showing from Millwall has earned them a nomination for the latest Johnstone's Paint Trophy Team of the Round award.
The Lions have been shortlisted for the Area Quarter-Final honour courtesy of a 5-3 victory in a thrilling tie at Sky Bet League Two promotion-chasers Plymouth Argyle, thanks to four goals from Lee Gregory and a strike from Aiden O'Brien.
Yeovil Town and Morecambe have also been nominated for the prize in the tenth season of Johnstone's Paint sponsoring the Football League Trophy.
The winning team is set to be selected by a panel of judges over the coming days and will receive a supply of Johnstone's Paint to utilise on a club project, as well as a trophy.
Richard Mazurkiewicz, marketing manager for Johnstone's Trade, said: "To score five goals in any game is a fine achievement and Millwall deserve great credit for doing so against a Plymouth side doing exceptionally well this season.
"Millwall, Yeovil and Morecambe all produced results worthy of winning the Team of the Round award and the judges will have a very difficult decision deciding on one winner."
Millwall now face a trip to Southend United in the Area Semi-Finals.
To earn their nomination, Yeovil pulled off an upset as they went through on penalties against League One high-flyers Gillingham. The tie had finished 1-1 after 90 minutes with Harry Cornick grabbing the Yeovil goal.
Morecambe were another team to win on the road against higher-ranked opposition, Paul Mullin's first-half strike enough to seal a 1-0 triumph at Rochdale.
Johnstone's Paint has been bringing colour to the beautiful game since it began sponsoring the Football League trophy in 2006.
