Millwall poppy seller Sean McCarthy raises £65,637.35 for Royal British Legion

19 November 2015

Hats off to a phenomenal record-breaking achievement by Lions fan

Millwall FC are proud to announce that Sean McCarthy has raised an astonishing £65,637.35 for the Royal British Legion - his highest ever figure - by selling a phenomenal amount of specially designed poppies, including a bespoke Lions/poppy badge.

Sean dedicates a huge amount of his own time raising funds ahead of Remembrance Sunday, and is a familiar face at Cannon Street Station, where he sets up a stall to sell from every year.

This year, Lions fan Sean withstood horrendous weather conditions to sell his wide range of poppies by the Blue Bus at The Den before the AFC Fylde game, and Millwall supporters attending that game snapped up the unique enamel poppies in their hundreds.

Cadets also held a bucket collection at the Bradford City match, helping to raise an additional £2,247.43 as Lions fans once again showed their generosity.

Everyone at Millwall FC would like to offer our hearty congratulations to Sean for his record-busting fund-raising efforts.

Don't forget that Millwall shirts worn by the players during the Emirates FA Cup First Round game with AFC Fylde, each of which are adorned with a poppy marking this year's Remembrance commemorations, are now up for auction.
