Quality over quantity, says Harris

Lions manager targetting 'different balance' in the squad

Millwall boss Neil Harris says he is looking to add to his forward options this summer, but insists that it won't be his only priority as he tries to inject 'fresh impetus' into the squad ahead of the 2015/16 League One campaign.

Harris has been busy sitting down with out-of-contract players to discuss their futures over the past few days as his summer rebuild of the team gets underway - one which will undoubtedly include a host of new signings - but the Lions manager says the club are adopting a 'quality over quantity' approach to recruitment over the coming months.

"What is important is that we have a much smaller squad than we had this year," he said.

"It's no secret that we need to recruit a centre-forward - definitely one if not two - to get more goals in the team.

"But at the other end of the pitch we have conceded far too many also so we have to consider that all over the park we need new players, fresh impetus and maybe a different balance in the squad. We are looking for quality and not quantity.

"It's about getting the mix right between the youngsters and experience. You need leaders - good, experienced pro's to lead the young players and help them develop."
