The Lions manager insists progress is being made as he looks to re-shape the squad over the coming weeksMillwall boss Neil Harris says that his summer recruitment drive is "progressing nicely".
The Lions confirmed the release of 18 players earlier this month as Harris looks to re-shape the squad ahead of the new campaign, which starts in the second weekend of August.
Discussions with Jimmy Abdou and John Marquis regarding new contracts are ongoing, as are moves to bring a few fresh faces to The Den over the coming weeks.
"Things are progressing nicely," Harris said. "I've realised very quickly that things don't happen overnight when it comes down to negotiating with players, agents and clubs.
"We have to be patient, especially at this time of year when a lot of people disappear on holiday, which is only natural.
"A lot of people want to meet face-to-face rather than talk over the phone, which is exactly what I want to do too. If it means we have to wait a week or two to speak to a player then so be it."
Harris added: "We have identified players who we think are going to improve us and have certainly picked out key areas which we think need strengthening.
"Andrew Mills is working incredibly hard to target players who fit our demands, after which it is just a case of speaking to clubs and to the individuals themselves.
"We are making sure players are keen to come, which is the key for me. We want players here who are determined to have a right good go next season."
