Skipper says it's 'heartbreaking' to leave The LionsThe feeling was mutual, and an emotional Dunney - who made 390 appearances for The Lions and scored 23 goals - told millwallfc.co.uk:
Thursday's announcement that skipper Alan Dunne was to bring the curtain down on his near 23-year association with Millwall saw Lions fans take to social media and thank him for his outstanding contribution to the club. "I hope to one day be back working with the young players to achieve their dreams.
"I want to say thank you to the fans, Chairman and the club and wish Neil (Harris) the very best of luck in the coming seasons.
"I have achieved things I could only have dreamed of as a boy. To be part of two promotions, an FA Cup Final, Europe, winning Player of the Season, a testimonial and, of course, being made Captain and playing nearly 400 games, makes me very proud.
"There have been some truly great memories over the years."
