Full-time from the Ricoh Arena
Two cracking goals from JP Rylah and Kyron Farrell extended Millwall U21s' unbeaten run to six games as the young Lions edged to a 2-1 win against Coventry City at the Ricoh Arena.
Following an even start in which Jamie Philpot tested home keeper Jake Richards and then Bassala Sambou fired wide, it was Millwall who took the lead on 28 minutes.
There seemed to be little danger when Rylah picked up the ball outside the area, but the young winger smashed an unstoppable shot into the far corner.
Team-mate Jack Powell nearly made it 2-0 moments later with a 20-yard shot that fizzed wide of the upright as The Lions pushed forward again.
But as the game opened up, back came the Sky Blues with Jack Finch sending an effort into the arms of keeper Tom King and then Shaun Miller nodding the ball narrowly wide from a Finch cross.
Coventry hauled themselves level on the stroke of half-time with a somewhat fortuitous effort by Miller, whose cross/shot took a wicked deflection up and over the head of keeper King.
Buoyed by their leveller, the Sky Blues started the second-half in confident mood and had The Lions on the back foot.
Miller wasted a glorious opportunity on 53 minutes, lashing over from eight yards instead of squaring to the unmarked Sambou, whilst King came to the rescue a couple of minutes later with a solid stop from Conor Thomas.
However, The Lions weathered the storm and started to get into good positions with some neat attacking play.
With just five minutes remaining Millwall secured their second goal of the game - and what a strike it was too - with the industrious Farrell picking up the ball on the edge of the box and curling a superb shot into into the top left corner.
