'We can turn this around' says Lions winger
Martyn Woolford's match-winning goal on the final day of the campaign against AFC Bournemouth saved Millwall from relegation last season - and the winger believes that The Lions can pull off another Great Escape to secure their Championship survival this time around too.Winger Wooly and his team-mates go into action this Friday against Charlton effectively needing to make up an eight point deficit on fourth-from-bottom Rotherham United from the remaining seven games.
Is it a tall order? Yes. Is it doable? Yes.
"We've got to take the confidence from what we did this time last year into our next seven games," Wooly told Lions Player. "Everyone had written us off apart from us in the building here.
"We are in exactly the same mind frame - none of us are giving up at all, not by any means. We will keep at it, one game at a time, and we know that we can turn this around."
Millwall's poor home record this season has been a significant factor in the team's struggle to pick up points, but re-vitalised and re-energised under interim manager Neil Harris, The Lions will be looking to gain some home comfort against Charlton Athletic this Friday.
"We're in a real battle so the only way to look at it is literally one game at a time," he added. "Next up we've got a London derby, a big game against Charlton, so we will focus on that one first.
