Lions new boy sets sights highWhile David Forde takes a few extra days rest following his extension to last season with the Republic of Ireland, Jordan Archer is planning to turn up the heat on his friend for the number one spot at The Den.
Archer, who this week signed a two year deal at Millwall, having spent three months on loan from Spurs towards the end of the previous campaign, says he now needs to start playing more games.
"Fordey was absolutely brilliant on and off the field when I came here in February and I have the greatest respect for him as a goalkeeper and personally," said Jordan.
"All the keepers here get on really well together, along with our coach Kevin Pressman, and we really support each other in training. But the reality is we are all competing for one spot in the team, and so we are all desperate to prove that we should be the number one.
"I'm under no illusions how hard it will be to dislodge Fordey, but I have to have confidence in my ability and do everything I can to put pressure on him. He would expect nothing less and it has to be good for the team as a whole for players to be pushing each other to better performances.
"I am still quite young at 22, and I'm determined to keep working hard so that I'm on top of my game when I reach Fordey's age! But I feel ready to step up and start playing first team football regularly, which is why I was delighted to be offered the chance to do that at Millwall."
