Neil Harris is focused on the positives as Millwall's transfer dealings continue

Lions manager Chopper is working hard to add to his squad ahead of pre-season

Millwall boss Neil Harris says he is busy speaking to potential new signings as he looks to bolster his squad in the build-up to the 2015/16 campaign.

Three existing players - Sid Nelson, Aiden O'Brien and John Marquis - have all signed new contracts and Harris hopes that negotiations with midfield duo Jimmy Abdou and Fred Onyedinma will be concluded shortly.

But behind-the-scenes the manager is also working hard to add some fresh faces to his group and insists that positive progress is being made in the transfer market.

"We need to restructure the squad from last season," Harris said. "That has been apparent since the close of business at the end of the season where we had to let some players move on.

"First and foremost it has been about trying to look after the players we've got. We want to make sure that the young players we see as the long-term future of the club are tied down to long contracts."

Discussing potential new additions, Harris added: "We identified players at the end of last season.

"I spoke to the board about them and we are doing due diligence on players to make sure they are of the right character to mould into what we're trying to achieve.

"We are in the process of trying to negotiate with players and clubs. It takes time but there are a lot of positive things going on at the moment."
