Millwall boss Harris says new deals for Abdou and Onyedinma are "very close"

Manager Neil hopes midfield duo will put pen-to-paper soon

Millwall boss Neil Harris insists that Jimmy Abdou and Fred Onyedinma are "very close" to signing new contracts at the club.

John Marquis, Sid Nelson and Aiden O'Brien have all penned new deals in the last two weeks and Harris is keen to ensure that Abdou and Onyedinma, who spent the second-half of 2014/15 on loan at Wycombe, put pen-to-paper soon.

"Jimmy and Fred are both very close," the Lions boss told millwallfc.co.uk.

"It is just a pain that at this time of year players and agents go away on holiday to spend time with their families.

"You can agree as much as you can but until the players actually sign on the dotted line you have to sit tight and be patient before anything can be announced.

"Hopefully, once they return from their holidays, we can tie them down to longer contracts so they can commit their futures as well."
