Update from the treatment room on Millwall duo O'Brien and Twardek

24 July 2015

Information from Bobby Bacic on young attacking pair

Lions physio Bobby Bacic has provided with an update on Aiden O'Brien's ankle injury and also has news of a blow for Kris Twardek.

Bacic said: "All players will take part in training today with the exception of Aiden and Kris.

"Aiden remains in his protective boot and tomorrow will go for a special type of injection where the specialist will perform a very unique procedure. This involves injecting a clinical dextrose (sugar) into the ankle joint which acts as a bridge to knit the two ruptured ends of Aiden's ligament together.

"The procedure works best with Aiden's type of ankle injury and will help him over the long-term to have a stable ankle. Unfortunately it does not work for ruptured knee ligaments such as the anterior cruciate.

"Kris has suffered a fracture dislocation to his 2nd toe. Although he does not feel very lucky at the moment, it is not his metatarsal but one of the end bones of his toe. That should mean a speedier recovery compared to a metatarsal fracture.

"We will give a further update on the pair next week."
