Perry joins Millwall's Academy

7 July 2015

Former Dons and Spurs star Chris to coach Lions U16s

Following the elevation of Neil Harris and Dave Livermore to senior management roles at The Den, vacancies have opened up lower down in the Millwall Academy, and The Lions have moved quickly to bring in new faces with a wealth of top level playing experience.

Following the announcement that former Republic of Ireland striker David Connolly would be coaching the U18s this season, his ex-Southampton team-mate Chris Perry has been drafted in to do a similar job with the U16s.

He said: "Academy Director Scott Fitzgerald, who I knew from my Wimbledon days, made me aware of the vacancy and it was an opportunity that really excited me.

"The young players are being given the chance to progress through to the first team at Millwall now, and there is a very promising group coming through at U15 and U16 levels, so I'm looking to help them take the next step towards the senior ranks. In the process I want to encourage them to be creative, play entertaining football and score goals."

Former Tottenham defender Perry began his coaching career with the U16s at Dagenham & Redbridge where he also worked with the U18s.
